Ontario has a wild boar problem. These feral pigs would have originally escaped from a farm. They can be aggressive towards humans, and the Ontario MNR is asking hunters with a valid small game license to shoot them on sight. Non-hunters are encouraged to report sightings to the MNR.
In addition to documented attacks on humans, wild boars can attack dogs, livestock, destroy crops.
These animals have been sighted around Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe in the past. Recent sightings in Eastern Ontario have prompted the MNR to release this memo asking for the public’s help.
